Lymphatic Breast Care

The Lymphatic System is a network of rivers and tributaries, transporting and processing your own personal, internal "tea," including all the stuff you ingest through mouth, nose, and skin, as well as with your 5 senses .  Emotional/ hormonal responses flow through us in response to experience and their particles are literally cleaned up by a flowing Lymphatic System.

The highways of our immune system, the Lymphatic vessels are where healing opportunities are identified, and damaged cells, toxins and other debris are cleared and sent to lymph nodes to be broken down for excretion.  Lymph is the cellular bath in which cleansing and regeneration, take place.  At times, we can be flowing well overall in our bodies, with select areas of inflammation, stagnation and limitation.  At other times, we may experience systemic inflammation, as in acute illness or serious allergic reaction, or on a chronic basis due a variety of conditions, often under the auto-immune umbrella.

The breasts, with their high fat and fluid composition, and their hormone responsiveness, are prone to stagnation.  Restrictive clothing, surgery, hormonal imbalances, low physical activity... many things can contribute to congestion, or blockages, which can cause breast discomfort and contribute to cysts, fibrotic tissue, and many states of degraded tissue.  With a little knowledge and loving attention, we can give our breasts a hand in clearing the debris.

I have specialized in Lymphatic Breast Care for the last decade, and have had the opportunity to serve as adjunct health support for people going through a wide variety of states of health.  I offer health-enhancing, hands on therapy for ongoing wellness support, including self-care instruction, pre and post-natal support for general health, comfort and breastfeeding support, pre and post-surgical support, and ability to consult and/or collaborate with a medical team when clients are working with intense challenges.

At this point, I have had the opportunity to feel many different tissue states and work with a variety of conditions over time, building a catalogue of kinesthetic reference to understand what we’re feeling, while helping to assist healthy change and track symptoms in between imaging appointments and other hands on assessments.

I have been training, since the birth of my son, in 2006, with the view of providing support for the breastfeeding diad. Mastitis often involves blocked milk ducts, which are apart from, yet served by, the lymphatic vessels. Helping the body clear the breast tissue of old material can decrease the likelihood of the body needing to mount an inflammatory response. For the baby, difficulties with latch can be well served by Craniosacral Therapy, which has been my primary training focus for the past 7 years. I now feel confident in welcoming new Mamas to reach out for support with this important aspect of relationship.

Lymphatic Breast Care can help prevent, and relieve:

Our breasts overlay our hearts, and our hearts are the oceans for our internal network of rivers.
Water is the mother of the vine, the nurse and fountain of fecundity, the adorner and refresher of the world.

Welcome is every organ and attribute of me, and of any human hearty and clean,
Not an inch nor a particle of me is vile, and none shall be less familiar than the rest
