Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)

Our whole bodies are moved throughout our lives, rhythmically, from deep within.  In a full body flow, from pinky toes to the bones in our heads, we unfurl and recur, in a gesture of rising and opening, then settling and drawing in, throughout the day and night.

In our work, this movement is referred to often as, the Breath of Life. Noticing how we move with this Breath, how fully we can express these inherent movements, and where there are hindrances, shows us the obstacles in the context of a much larger stream of life, that we are part of.

Spending time in contact with our innate regenerative, equilibrium-seeking forces, our bodies start to unwind old knots, discharge old forces of impact or overwhelm. With the understanding that

As bio-enegetic imprints via the Nervous System, in the form of over or under-active tissues. We ground progressively deeper in our ability to be present in our bodies and open our hearts and minds to the greater breadths of experience, past and presentBio-energy animates fluid, fluid waves propel physical forms, like boats are rocked at sea.

Using sensitive, sustained physical contact, with the sacrum, cranium, along the spine, or anywhere on the body, we bear witness to the moment to moment expression of this tide-like flow, inviting attunement to healthy, rhythmic organization and a steady support for reclaiming vitality that has been spinning in disconnection, based in past efforts to maintain vital functions and survive another day.

Craniosacral Therapy aims to free up and strengthen our innate vitality through collaborating with the Breath of Life, which is intimate with our nervous systems. As human beings, we are gifted with immense capacities for learning and creating. In response to experience, our nervous systems adapt and organize to survive and prepare for new experiences.  Our incredible flexibility can thereby lead to an array of skills, as well as coping strategies that may be more or less helpful to our experiencing a fulfilling, healthy life.

Meeting our nervous systems, in recognition of the deep, slow rhythms that support health, this work invites us to spend time in states of recovery, and health creation.  When we access this side of the spectrum of nervous system tone, the body responds naturally by building vitality and often, finding old knots of dysfunction to unravel, helping us to heal deeply from current and past injuries of body, mind and spirit.

The Craniosacral fluid circulates between the brain, and the back of the pelvis, traveling along and around the main nerve bundle, or spinal cord, within the spinal column.  Craniosacral Therapy in a Biodynamic mode focuses on this fluid’s movement at the core of our central nervous systems, as our physical bodies ride the tides of fluid motion, rippling out from our spines.

Our nervous systems, including our brains, are the physical pathways and processing centers for sensation and information, offering us the capacities to feel our bodies, take action, learn and make sense of our experiences.  Our sympathetic, (active) parasympathetic, (restful) polyvagal,  (social engagement) and enteric (gastro-intestinal) nervous systems, all need their time to shine, to have their agendas receive priority.

To be alive in this beautiful, self-organizing universe- to participate in the dance of life with senses to perceive it, lungs to breathe it, organs that draw nourishment from it- is a wonder beyond words.”
